Told in three separate and yet connected timelines, writer/director Ildiko Enyedi turns us away from the chaos of the human realm to the subtle, enduring majesty of the natural world.
In 1908 a young photographer uncovers sacred patterns in the subjects she dares to study up close. Alone as his friends enjoy summer in 1972, a university is profoundly changed by the geranium plant he has somehow inherited. And in 2020 a neuroscientist (Tony Leung in a truly transcendent performance) who cannot continue with his study of the minds of infants instead grows curious about the gingko tree he is spending his lockdown with.
"...beautiful, elusive and peppered with provocative nuggets about the nature of life and our place in it." - Deadline
