Mortician
"Mortician punches well above the weight of its scrappy production with its brisk storytelling, compositional elegance and the crashing emotional wallop of its finale." - The Hollywood Reporter

Mortician follows Mojtaba, an Iranian expatriate who washes the dead in accordance with Islamic rites for fellow immigrants in Canada. Until, one day, the funeral home where he works announces it’s closing down. When an anti-establishment pop star in exile, Jana, seeks Mojtaba’s help in staging a potentially huge, shocking social media protest, challenging both of them to find dignity amid exile, loss, and oppression. Shot entirely on an iPhone, the film won the Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence at the 2025 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director.
