Sarah Goer takes the film world by storm with her feature debut, Happy Birthday, a narrative we watch play out from the hopeful and wondrous mind of a child. Toha, an eight year old girl, works as a maid for a wealthy family in Cairo and forms a close bond with their daughter, Nelly. When the maid learns her new friend has never celebrated her birthday, Toha makes it her life's mission to ensure Nelly has the time of her life. As Toha and Nelly’s family blur the lines between employer and employee, cracks form at the seams as class prejudices bubble to the surface. Winner of Best International Narrative Feature, Best Screenplay in an International Narrative Feature, and the Nora Ephron Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, this piece was also selected as Egypt's submission for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.
