Exit 8

Exit 8

"Just like the game, it leaves you second-guessing what exactly you’re seeing, and it becomes even more of a mindfuck by messing around with the flow of time. [...] The Exit 8 movie is even scarier than the game." - The Verge

Exit 8 explores the liminal horror of its 2023 video game counterpart with the same name, an anomaly finding game set inside a seemingly very-ending subway. Caught in a loop, casual office worker “The Lost Man”, must inch toward Exit 8 by identifying unexplainable occurrences to his eerie tour guide, but if he misses even the smallest detail he will be sent back to the start. With liminal horror finally getting more wide-spread attention, Exit 8 is reminiscent of popular titles such as THE BACKROOMS or VIVARIUM yet presents itself in a uniquely distant way through its original 'loop cycle’ rule which breaks the common laws of the liminal horror genre. The film premiered in Cannes’ Midnight Screenings and broke Japan’s 3‑day live‑action opening records.
