From filmmaker brothers Lauris and Raitis comes DOG OF GOD, a rotoscoped, surrealist comedy horror animation from Latvia that deals with many occult inspired plot threads. Set in 1962, within the walls of a humble village, a local Priest’s relic is stolen from his quarters and he insists the tavern maid, Neze, a cryptic woman, is guilty. Despite her innocence she is forced into a witch trial held by the angry, unfaithful villagers and their perverted leaders. An unexpected turn of events reveal the relic’s actual whereabouts, but at the cost of the village’s growing sexual deviance and decline of morality. The film premiered at Tribeca 2025 and was selected as Latvia’s entry for Best International Feature at the 98th Academy Awards, a definite must see from this year’s international releases.
